Adaira was born in Autun, in a family with Garou and Kin on both sides of her lineage. She lived in Autun and other areas in the Morvan as a child. She shared a house with her older twin brothers, their parents, and their maternal grandparents. Their grandmother, Svetlana, was a Garou, while others were Kin, except for Adaira.
When Adaira was 13, days before her grandmother expected her to shift for the first time, a group of hunters attacked the family house, and killed everyone except Adaira, who was saved and protected by her grandmother.
Due to the trauma, Adaira has never shifted even as she reached her twenties. Following the tragedy, she was placed in two foster families over the years, and she petitioned to be emancipated at age 16, changing her last name to her grandmother's maiden one. She attended univeristy in Dijon for a Bachelor in History, and then began a Master in Cultural Management and Institutions. She quit after the first semester though, upon realization that a mandatory class would have to be with the man who murdered her family.
She tried to continue the part-time job she had had for years at the Bibracte Museum in Glux-en-Glenne, but was unable to stay put. When she went through her grandmother's belongings again, she found a note about an old friend of the family, and contacted the woman who suggested to Adaira to come stay with her in London, and hopefully find a community after years of isolation as a non-human.
