Corporate Airfield
formerly: US Marine Corps
Established in 1942, the 4,682 acres of Marine Corps Air Station El Toro were home to a number of fighter squadrons during World War II, and in the decades that followed. Designed to accomodate even the largest planes employed by the United States military, and saw landings in Air Force One by every President during the base's operation.
The base was closed in 1999; some years later the land was purchased by Treadstone Industries. El Toro initially functioned purely as a private airfield for Treadstone executives on trips to the Los Angeles area. Following the events of Hurricane Katrina however, various prototypes and abandoned projects were moved into secure storage within the hangars and other structures at El Toro.
With the construction of Treadstone Tower, El Toro saw extensive use by Treadstone's CEO, allowing Dahlia Ericsson easy access to corporate headquarters in New Orleans, while spending most of her time overseeing operations on the West Coast, and in the Asian and Pacific regions.
Following the creation of the Applied Sciences branch of Treadstone Industries, many of El Toro's buildings were converted into specialist laboratories and testing grounds to aid in the study of mutant abilities. According to the signage on the base's approach, it is now known as El Toro Laboratories & Airfield.
