The Valiant Class Star Destroyers are heavily modified Venators from the Clone Wars. Extra armor, shielding and weapons take the place of the massive fighter capacity of the original vessels. Designed and built to prove the old Venators could compete with the new Imperial Star Destroyers, the Valiant line failed the task and all but four were decommissioned. These ships have now found there way into Alliance hands. One such ship is the War Eagle commander by General Forlon

Design
The backbone of the Clone Wars, the Venator was both carrier and battleship. As new designs came about, such as the Victory and Imperator, many commanders looked for a way to modernize the Venators. Twelve Venator hulls were modernized and rebuilt, creating the ships of the Valiant Class. Meant to be more battleship and less carrier, the troop capacity and massive hanger were turned into capacitor compartments for more weapons and shielding. Armor was re-enforced, slowing the acceleration and speed of the vessel.The dorsal sliding bay doors were removed, being replaced with armor and two weapons emplacements, each with a quad heavy turbolaser turrets, two double turbolaser cannons, four ion cannons, and a prow forward bay were created for larger craft and corvettes. The Amidships Ventral bay was also removed, making way for a large ventral weapons emplacement including a quad heavy turbolaser turret, four double turbolaser cannons, and four ion cannons. Another large weapons emplacement was on the fore edge of the superstructure. It housed a quad heavy turbolaser turret and six ion cannons. Flanking the superstructure were three double heavy turbolaser cannons placed on the dorsal hull towards the aft of the ship. Two double turbolaser cannons covered the rear of the ship, each one flanking the rear of the superstructure. Two large secondary hangars were built, flanking the superstructure on both sides. These housed the fighter wing and transports, leaving the forward bay as a holding area for larger barges and visiting craft.
Sharing design principles of both the Acclamator and Venator, the Valiant had a large holding bay for planetary forces on the ventral hull. Additional landing struts were added, giving the Valiant the ability to land and deploy troops. The Valiant can deploy four troop regiments and supporting armor.
History
The Valiant class were built in an attempt to reuse the Venator ships after the Clone Wars. Many of these ships were not commissioned and sold to third parties as scrap. Four were commissioned at the request of General Dodonna and sold to the Commenor defense fleet. Sometime before the order to assimilate all defense fleets into the Imperial fleet, these ships were sold as scrap and the paperwork was lost. In reality, they had been given to Dodonna to hide in case Commenor needed them at a later time. As the Empire took a hold of the galaxy, Dodonna and others worked on the ground work for what was to become the Alliance to Restore the Republic. These four ships were seldom seen or used, Dodonna choosing to hold them in reserve rather than take them against the new Imperial destroyers. After Endor, these ships remain in reserve service hidden by Dodonna after Hoth. Recently, the location of the ships, as well as the custodians protecting them, have been provided to fleet command.

Out Of Character
I have added these because General Forlon will be commanding one over Duro. These ships are Fanon and have popped up on the net in many Empire At War video mods. Many sites have taken the Valiant and made up fanon stats for it, ranging from the stats I have made to having them as some Mandalorian built Super Star Destroyer. I like my stats, as they are closer to the idea of the ship in the Alliance mod for EAW FOC.
