Past Biography: Brian MacLanahan grew up in the same township as the Institute's present location. He had a normal life, or at least, as normal a life as a cop's son could get. He was quite active, into playing baseball, football, wrestling in the backyard with the boys.

Some time during his adolescent life, his father had a case go incredibly sour. This resulted in Patrick MacLanahan turning to alcohol as a means to escape. And this, in turn, resulted in abusive behaviour, though no actual violent behaviour occured until he was older. One day, when Brian returned home, he found his mother, Sarah, on the floor of their kitchen crying, a trickle of blood coming from her lip, his father standing over her. More determined than angry, Brian stood up to his father, telling him to get help, to stop it. When his father went to strike Brian, Brian found himself with a broken nose. When he went to get back up, Patrick struck his son again, only to draw back a completely broken hand. The father then watched in abject horror as his son transformed before his eyes, gaining almost six inches in height, almost doubling his weight, his skin and flesh transforming into pale, white marble-looking stone, topped with a shock of reddish-clay. His eyes were emeralds as Brian straightened himself up, and told his father to back down. Even drunk, Patrick stood down. Patrick then lost his job, and his family. When it became clear that a mutant was involved, a doctor by the name of Cullen's approached the remainder of the family, and Brian was accepted into Cullen's Institute for the Gifted.

During his stay at the Institute, Brian recieved a collegiate education in Criminal Justice, and was able to attend police academy at the same time. In addition to these, Brian also became an active member of the X-Men, serving as an additonal strong-man and tank for the group. He was involved in several missions of varying degrees of difficulty and lethality. Once it was available to him, Brian joined the local branch of the NYPD, and has served the law for twenty years, several stints of property damage keeping him from achieving outstanding ranks. But when asked, members of his unit, including his supervisors, declare that Senior Detective Brian MacLanahan is a outstanding and extraordinary individual, responsible for saving the lives of many. Those same individuals will also mention the enormous amounts of property damage that MacLanahan has caused, with a smile or a laugh.

During his time "on the Force," MacLanahan would occasionally come to the aid of his former fellow X-Men, such as a difficult mission in the mid-90's in North Korea to stop a super-soldier program exploiting mutants. This led to the rescue of one mutant, who later became known as Professor John Rhee.

Present Biography: MacLanahan still directly deals with the security of Cullen's Institute, occasionally being called upon to offer assistance in whatever means he can manage. MacLanahan also looks out for young, troubled mutants, and makes an effort to get them "rehabilitated" at the Institute. Senior Detective MacLanahan is currently in his twentieth year with the NYPD, and plans to retire soon.
