Peer

Basic Information

The main city of the Mer, Peer is only visible from the sea. The small Mer-folk built their settlement into the side of the cliff using driftwood and handmade ropes and nets. Some of the stone of the cliff has been tunneled out, by hand or by a rare Mer Earth mage. Sandy colored cliffs rise almost straight up from the ocean, criss-crossed and honeycombed with wooden and rope dwellings suspended almost unbelievably from the stone. Some homes are burrowed into the cliff, but most were out in the air, connected by swaying rope bridges and ladders.

Notable Places

The hut of the Elders of Peer is just beneath the lip of the cliff, thatched with palm fronds. It is where the Elders gather to make important decisions.

Peer is near to the Bowl Reef, a magical nexus of great power. It is named for the bowl shape cut into the southern point of the coral reef.

Other Information

Sometimes it is called Peerl by the Dalridian and Necian traders that come over land to visit and trade for the pearls and fine fishing nets that the Mer could provide.
