Purchased by Imperial Academy hopeful Jaden Luka, the Astral Queen was purchased out on Ord Varee as a commiseration for his sponsorship "falling through" - after the death of his father, the strings the older Luka had been pulling were cut, and brought his hopes and future crashing down. The Queen was meant to be his escape from the pressures and expectations of his old life, and a means to strike out into the galaxy. Along with a retired Scout Trooper called Amos Iakona, and the replica of a 4000-year-old droid that his father had constructed as a retirement project, Jaden and the Queen set out on a career as traders.
The YT-2000 was not the most popular of the Corellian Engineering Corporation transports, with many favouring the vessels with larger cargo capacity like the older YT-1300 Transport, or the newer YT-2400. As a courier though, intended to provide the duo with a place to sleep, transport from A to B, and a means to cover a few running costs along the way, the ship was perfect for their needs. Being Corellian too, she posessed a fantastic ability to hold together and run for lightyears on parts that were on their last legs, although at least partial credit is owed to the tireless efforts of Trip.
The Astral Queen was used as such for seven years, until a chance encounter with a Carrack Cruiser proved a little too much for her. Stranded, with her hyperdrive down, the Queen and her crew were fortunately rescued by a Rebel Cruiser that happened to be in the area targetting the same Carrack that had attacked them. The crew was brought aboard, and the Astral Queen stored in the Valiant's hold for the better part of a year. The ship was used occasionally by Amos in conjunction with the SpecForce troops aboard the Valiant, but for the most part remained powered down.
Later, Jaden Luka was reassigned away from the Valiant to a new position within Rogue Squadron. The Astral Queen was left under the supervision of Amos Iakona, with Trip as her caretaker. When Amos heard news that his mother was suffering from a terminal illness, he used the Astral Queen to travel to his homeworld of Naboo.
