Jeseth Cloak served as a Jedi of the Old Republic for twenty-six years before the rise of The Galactic Empire. During the years of civil conflict leading up to the Clone Wars, rumors began to surface about his possible predilection for the Dark Side of the Force. At the behest of the Galactic Senate, Jeseth was arrested and then tried for malfeasance. The Jedi Council - citing a lack of credible evidence - cleared him of all charges, despite the serious misgivings most other Jedi had about his integrity. He lost his younger sister at the hands of Anakin Skywalker when Chancellor Palpatine ordered the Jedi purged from galaxy, and - after suffering a painful defeat at the hands of clone troopers - went into exile on the planet Ilum, in the Unknown Regions of space.
Expanded History
Jeseth spent twenty-five years in seclusion on Ilum before being sought out; Jedi Knight Kelt Simoson, convinced that Jeseth had never been brought to account for his crimes against the Old Republic, came to Ilum with the intent of finally bringing the fallen Jedi to justice. In the battle that ensued, Jeseth overpowered Kelt Simoson with his superior skill with a lightsaber, killing him.
Autobiography
I was born a Duke on Sylithea (the water moon of Ventis) in the Unknown Regions, more than sixty-eight years before the Battle of Yavin.
My childhood was one of considerable immoderation; my father spent a prodigal fortune on my education and physical training. By the age of thirteen I was both a formidable representative for the crown, and a respected member of the Ventisian aristocracy. Though despite my cadre of mentors and tutors, there were some things that then eluded my understanding: compassion, moderation, pain and sorrow. That lack of understanding left me unprepared for many things that then lay ahead in my life. Most significant of those was that - at the age of fourteen - I watched my mother take her own life. Everything changed after that.
By the time I was age twenty-four, Ventis could no longer stem the flow of foreign influences and ideals. The aristocracy's grip on the planet was slipping away in the tides of change. My father had grown despondent and abashed, and the other noble families waited or a chance to supplant us. So, I made a very terrible and necessary decision: to silence all treasonous calls for reform. Six months later, when the Republic arrived, few of Ventis' people were still alive to greet them.
