The Bormus Testing Facility was created by Koensayr Manufacturing as a testing ground for starships and starfighters. During the Clone Wars, it was the site where the BTL-B Y-Wing Starfighter was developed and tested, prior to deployment with the Galactic Republic military. In 22 BBY, the Y-Wing prototypes being tested at the facility were released to Anakin Skywalker three weeks ahead of schedule, for use in his mission to destroy the Separatist superweapon Malevolance.

Following the Clone Wars, Koensayr continued to develop Y-Wings for the Galactic Empire at Bormus, leading to the two-seat BTL-S3 Y-Wing Starfighter, and the updated BTL-A4 Y-Wing Starfighter. Unfortunately, the Empire began to shift its military focus towards exclusivity with contractors like Sienar Fleet Systems and Kuat Drive Yards, favouring the TIE Bomber and TIE Brute over the Y-Wing. By 2 BBY the Y-Wing had been entirely phased out of military service, and sent to salvage yards such as Reklam Station to be scrapped. Koensayr continued to produce Y-Wings for the civilian market however, with many of these craft finding their way into the hands of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The Empire meanwhile constructed the Bormus Navy Yards, a Star Destroyer construction and repair facility, in the same system

After the Alliance-Imperial Treaty of 10 ABY, corporations on both sides of the border were forced to sell off holdings and facilities that now found themselves within foreign territory. By that time, Koensayr Manufacturing was owned by Taataani Meorrrei, one of the new Senators for the Alliance of Free Planets. The Treaty forced Meorrrei to sell off Koensayr holdings in Imperial space such as the Bormus Testing Facility, and the industrial world of Koensayr itself: they were acquired by Sienar Fleet Systems, as part of an ongoing rivalry between Taataani Meorrrei and Santhe/Sienar Technologies CEO Achilles Sienar-Santhe. The facility is now used for research and development by Sienar Advanced Systems - Santhe/Sienar's special projects branch - though it is as much a trophy as anything else.
