Svetlana Ustinov, known as Lana to her friends, is a young mutant living in the Los Angeles area where she attends Steve Rogers High School, along with the other members of the Greek Club. Lana's mutation works with light energy. She has the ability to see from infra-red through to ultraviolet on the light spectrum. She can 'store' light energy, which she describes as being 'charged up', and forcefully emit the light as energy blasts. Because of her mutation, she needs UV energy, much like plants do. As such, prolonged exposure to darkness/lack of sunlight for longer than one night at a time weakens her considerably. Even a single night can leave her a little weak in the morning, so to stave that off, she sleeps under a grouping of UV lamps.
