As an infant, Ald Sorol was given over to the Jedi Order. The Force was very weak with him, and after an unsuccessful stint in the AgriCorps, he decided to leave the Jedi when he was only thirteen years old. He did so just before the Battle of Geonosis, and missed the Clone Wars entirely. Although nominally a ward of the state, Sorol struck out on his own, and ended up in Wild Space. It took him months to hear about the end of the Clone Wars and Order 66. By that time, his trail was so convoluted that the former Youngling had little difficulty escaping the Purge.
Sorol grew up fast, and his limited Force abilities helped him become an expert thief. He evaded at least one Imperial Darksider over the course of the following decades, and did not develop or disclose his Force-sensitivity under any circumstances. He had surrendered his lightsabre when he left the Order, and though on occasion he wished for one, he never bothered to get one. With time, his lightsabre technique disappeared.
Eventually, Sorol entered a new line of work. He became a go-to man for several Hutt cartels and other organizations: when you want something found or retrieved, you call Ald Sorol. In 2 ABE, Sorol accepted an exceptionally lucrative and very secretive contract to search the Valley of the Dark Lords and the remnants of TSO's Korriban temples for anything valuable. He did so in full knowledge of the continued Force Hunter presence and the very real dangers of the Valley.
