One of the oldest subsidiaries of Ubrikkian Industries, Ubrikkian Steamworks was created to allow the company to branch out from repulsorcraft into robotics. During the old Republic the Steamworks produced everything from astromechs to war droids, but in recent years they have consolidated their designs to some extent, focusing more on utility. Droids such the DD-13 Medical Assistant and DD-19 Overseer have attempted to produce a broad and versatile range of designs based on the same basic droid chassis.

Following the acquisition of Ubrikkian Industries by the Rath Cartel, several smaller corporations were merged with the Steamworks, including PackTrack and Rodian D-Tec; and the Steamworks gained licences to produce droids designed by other Rath Cartel corporations. The Steamworks also began to operate in collaboration with Kalibac Industries, providing access to the designs, resources, and R&D belonging to Cestus Cybernetics, Baktoid Industrial Systems, and Huppla Pasa Tisc.

Like the rest of Ubrikkian Industries, the Steamworks primarily targets private and small-scale customers in the Outer Rim Territories, providing budget droids. It currently makes use of the Kalibac Industries offices in The Hive on Procopia as it's corporate headquarters; uses the old Cestus Cybernetics headquarters in Clandes on Ord Cestus as the location for it's research and development projects; and has a regional office at the Stark Compound on Etti IV in the Corporate Sector. The Steamworks has access to production facilities on Ord Cestus, Ubrikkia, Rodia, and Hypori.

Hierarchy

Baktoid Industrial Systems

Following the defeat of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the manufacturing infrastructure for it's droid army - Baktoid Industries - was dismantled. Imperial regulations prevent the construction of any new battle droids and super battle droids, nor any of it's droid-controlled starfighters and airships; but some of it's repulsorcraft, man-operated equipment, and non-combat droids are currently in production with Ubrikkian Steamworks and other corporations of the Rath Cartel.

Cestus Cybernetics

Formerly the research and development arm of Baktoid Combat Automata, Cestus Cybernetics was one of the few corporations that continued to exist after the collapse of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, largely due to it's prominent role as the corporate-government of Ord Cestus.

While most former Separatist droids are outlawed by Imperial trade sanctions, Cestus Cybernetics has been allowed to continue manufacturing a few designs in small numbers for non-military applications. The Cestus Aqua Droid is marketed as a patrol and exploration droid for aquatic worlds; the LM-432 Crab Droid is marketed as a defense droid for asteroid mining and remote outposts with hostile environments; and the Pistoeka Sabotage Droid or "Buzz Droid" is popular with law enforcement and customs forces to deter and disable smugglers and pirates.

LesTech

A small-time Outer Rim droid manufacturer, that specialises in budget utility droids. Their Mechanical Universal Labor Eliminating Droid - the MULE - was designed to replicate the function of a beast of burden for Outer Rim colonists and explorers on remote worlds, while their M38-series Explorer Droid served as a Mobile Analytic Laboratory Probe. The S19 Astromech Droid was developed as a budget alternative to Industrial Automaton droids; it's simple and modular design allowed for imaginative customisations, such as converting it into a portable shield generator.

Rodian D-Tec

A droid design and manufacturing corporation from Rodia, best known for producing the RHTC-560 series of hunter/trainer droids, popular both as droid support for bounty hunters and wilderness explorers, and as participants in gladiatorial combat in Rodia's arenas. Rodian D-Tec is one of a number of Rath Cartel holdings on Rodia, and was one of the first companies acquired by Ambassador Wrath.

Huppla Pasa Tisc

Formerly known as the "Zann Consortium Droidworks", Huppla Pasa Tisc is a Geonosian manufacturing facility on Hypori, staffed by transplanted Geonosian refugees. In addition to producing Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collective designs for Ubrikkian Transports, and Gordarl Weaponsmiths designs for Czerka Arms, the droid foundries at Huppla Pasa Tisc are allowed to produce certain Baktoid and Cestus designs in modest numbers, including the Droideka Mark II.
