A T-65B X-Wing Starfighter unit, Raptor Squadron was originally deployed aboard the Star Destroyer Horizon, under the command of Commodore Vansen Tyree. In addition to the dozen standard X-Wings, they also maintained a flight of fighters in the Recon-X configuration, nicknamed the "Recon Raptors".
When Commodore Tyree was reassigned to command of the Star Destroyer Challenger, Raptor Squadron was one of the units he specifically requested be assigned to his command. A Recon Raptor is commonly left to trail behind the convoy for several hours, to monitor for pursuit by hyperspace craft. They are also deployed to specific rendezvous coordinates, to escort new Jedi arrivals to The Wheel.
