Taylor Byrne was born and raised on Ord Mantell and lived a life of relative normality. He was a large child, fat at birth and stocky all the way up till his later teen years, upon which he had a growth spurt that evened him out, and made his ridiculously tall. Now he was just a big guy, and of course he fell into the bully way of life. With his superior size, no other teenager could do anything to him, and adults were frightened of him as well, mostly because he was as tall as them. After his education was finished, if you could call constantly failing every subject as an educational experience, he evened out more, dropped the bully nature and become just another young adult. He worked in the local spaceport, throwing cargo. When his natural mechanical expertise manifested, he found a job on the side helping the technicians at the spaceport do repairs on equipment and, occasionally, the starships themselves. The hard labor worked and toned his body, burning off the last of the baby fat and replacing it with musculature.
Taylor became quite the drinker and brawler, getting into fights wherever he went, mostly due to people insisting that he had a girl's name. Those that insulted him in this fashion usually found themselves upside down in a trashcan half-filled with liquid. Anyone else just got a fist in the face and was deemed done. He was also, more or less, a skinhead. He loved weapons, despite the rigorous laws on Ord Mantell restricting blaster ownership, in a vain attempt to keep the violence levels down. Nothing could dissuade him. He got his hands on weapons whenever he could, and practiced with them down at the local law enforcement shooting range. The coppers let him do as he pleased, because they quite frankly did not want to piss of a guy with more weapons then the entire police force.
He progressed through his life this way. Working, drinking, brawling, and playing with blasters. Lather, rinse and repeat. He had no other aspirations in life and was more than content with his way of living.
Then he was pushed out of his comfort zone. Ord Mantell had long been a neutral planet in galactic affairs, but when the Empire began using Ord Mantell as a birth for ships and soldiers, Taylor, and others, were appalled at this, even more so when the Ord Mantellian government refused to even attempt to negotiate with the Empire to remove their soldiers and war machines. In the end, it came down to the simple man. Taylor et al rose to the occasion. Using Taylor's supply of weaponry, the Ord Mantellians began a campaign of urban guerrilla warfare against the Empire, calling themselves the Sons of Korhol. They hit supply depots, troop barracks, and even medical tents. No Imperial was safe from their wrath. They carved a blood streak through Ord Mantell. The Empire did in the end pull out their troops, but things did not get better. The Empire sent spies and assassins into Ord Mantell. Over time the Sons of Korhol were located and assassinated. Those few remaining, including Taylor, went into hiding, cursed to forever watch their backs.
