Mandan is very ellusive about his history, for reasons that are not entirely understood. He is so reluctant to reveal details about his past in fact that he has never confessed his true surname; it is not entirely clear if "Mandan" is even his real name. Most of those he encounters call him "Archer", and he seems content to be known by that alias. Given his accent, it is a fairly safe bet that he is originally a native of Dalriada.
As his alias suggests, Mandan is an experienced archer; he makes use of the Air - and a passing knowledge of Fire as well - to imbue his arrows with magic, making them fly further and strike with more accuracy.
