A vessel of the Star Destroyer class, the Intimidator served as a the flagship of Grand Admiral-Baron Telan Desaria, placed at his disposal by the Imperial High Chancellor, Tiberius Anar, in reward for his victory over the Rebel Alliance at Endor.

Whereas the typical Executor-class Super Star Destroyer is 19,000 meters, the Intimidator measures only 17,500 meters, the missing portions divided between the stern and the bow. At the stern, the rear overhand has been omitted; the prow has been blunted, giving the sides two angles apex, normal from the engines forward then a thousand meters to the bow changing and angling together much more sharply. The reduction, designed by Bevel Lemelisk, has actually served to reduce the ship's mass making it slightly faster in hyperspace but having no appreciable affect on realspace travel.

The Intimidator is also unique in its weapons compliment. While retaining the striking power in turbolasers and heavy turbolasers as well as projectile munitions, the ship has had its arsenal of ion cannons all but stripped. Having witnessed the Rebels' starfighter abilities at Endor, the Grand Admiral ordered the cannons replaced with quad laser turrets and individual rapid fire laser emplacements.

For strikes against planets, the Intimidator, like all other SSDs, is a force unto itself. A Corps (2 divisions: one infantry, one panzergrenadier) of the Imperial Army is embarked in addition to two battalions of Fleet Assault Corps troopers who provide security details throughout the ship while also leading boarding and inspection operations. The number of garrison bases has been reduced to one, the additional cargo space given over to the many Army ground vehicles.

At a distance, the Intimidator appears to be a Super Star Destroyer like any other; aside from minor cosmetic changes, it is.

History

The Intimidator was launched from Kuat Drive Yards at Fondor and fitted out at their satellite facility at Yaga Minor. Following a one month shakedown cruise, the warship was deployed to Carida then Raltiir to complete adjunct training for Academy crews and give them flagship ratings. Afterwards, it was sent to the Cauldron Sector where, under Commodore Mathias von der Heydte, the Alliance bases in that sector were slagged in succession.

Immediately following the Battle of Endor, Chancellor Tiberius Anar presented the vessel as flagship to a newly promoted Grand Admiral, Baron Telan Desaria of Kuat, who assumed control of the Fleet after the loss of the Executor and forced the Alliance to withdraw. Damage had been severe and casualties high, but the Ministry of Propaganda had spun the engagement into an Imperial victory, thus warranting a very public reward.

The Intimidator was deployed as command ship of operations in Wild Space where the Grand Admiral spent more than a year pacifying that region against Rebels, pirates, and general lawlessness. There Desaria demonstrated a reputation for being cold, calculating, and tactically clever, but his lack of strategic foresight was noted by many. However, the Grand Admiral was well aware of his faults and twice returned to Carida abaord his flagship to hand-pick General Staff officers to assist him.

Following its return, the Intimidator returned to its birthplace at Fondor to undergo a major overhaul. When combat ready once more, it again lead Imperial force to victory at Kashyyyk.
