Originally a T-65B X-Wing Starfighter Squadron, Talon Squadron was one of a handful of units selected to test-fly the new RZ-2 A-Wing Interceptor during its development. Unlike other Squadrons in the program - such as Valkyrie Squadron - Talon was selected to test how easy it was for pilots of heavier craft like the X-Wing to adapt to the RZ-2's systems. The Squadron was temporarily joined and led by Captain Jaden Luka of Rogue Squadron (formerly of Valkyrie Squadron), who was eventually appointed as permanent Squadron Leader.
Talon Squadron is part of the Horizon Air Wing - 103rd Interdictor Squadron (Task Force 75).
