Born in 1917, '''Thomas Edward Harriman''' joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot shortly before the Second World War.

Shot down during the Battle of Britain however, his injuries disqualified him from further flying. Bouncing between various command posts, he eventually joined the RAF Regiment when it was established in 1942, and was the inaugural commander of [[Special Wing]]: a unit that included supersoldiers with x-gene mutations, tasked with carrying out [[Operation Pelius]]. Despite this role, Harriman was not recorded as having special ability himself.

He the military service after Special Wing was disbanded in 1947 - shortly before the birth of his first son, Donald - and took a post working for the government at Whitehall. He and his family moved to the Isle of Wight some years later; though he was supposed to have retired, he was apparently still involved in Britain's counter-mutancy operations when [[Operation Damocles]] began in 1962.
