- "Aaron folded her into his arms, and was speaking so kindly to her. James wanted to pour her heart out to him, but instead concentrated on controlling her tears and quieting herself. The unexpectedness of seeing his friendly face and voice had brought to the surface... everything. His hand was stroking her hair, and she mumbled against his chest, "I - I want t' tell you. But -" and she sniffed loudly. "But -" She'd made a damp spot on the front of his clothes. James pulled away from his arms, standing in front of him and looking up. "I'm sorry - you looked so happy before, an' now I've ruined it."
